Internships
There are few things more valuable than an internship to help you figure out whether a particular career path is right for you. Spending extended time as an intern gives you an insider's view of a career, helps you make professional contacts, and adds important hands-on experience to your resume.
Gettysburg students in all majors do internships with corporations, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. They work in law firms, hospitals, TV studios, high-tech companies, stock exchanges, national parks, and developing countries. They do internships as nearby as downtown Gettysburg and as far away as the other side of the globe.
Sometimes they come away saying, "I don't like this; there's no way I want to do this for a living." Other times they come away certain they've found their life's calling. Either way, there's enormous value.
How do I arrange an internship?
A good time to begin looking for an internship is early in your sophomore year. The Center for Career Development has a variety of internship resources to help you find an opportunity that meets your needs, and Center staff members are available to advise you and help with internship arrangements.
