Arriving at Gettysburg

ConvocationCongratulations Gettysburg College Class of 2012!  We are very excited for your arrival on campus on Wednesday, August 27th, 2008, and I personally look forward to meeting you! I have already had the chance to communicate with many of you as you worked through what may be considered your first college assignment, myFirstYear. Now our focus has shifted to Orientation 2008, and we are working hard to develop programs which will make your transition into the Gettysburg College community both easy and enjoyable.

Between 8:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on August 27th, members of the campus community will assist you with moving into your residence hall. This is a great chance to talk to the upperclassmen and faculty about the campus and ask them any questions you may have. Throughout Orientation, you will have the opportunity to gather in your Orientation group, meet your advisor, and have a formal introduction to the town of Gettysburg.

We sincerely hope that you will make the most of your time here in Gettysburg, and take advantage of all of the wonderful opportunities the College has to offer. Throughout your four years, you will find the tools and resources necessary to plan your path to success and ultimately achieve it. The faculty, administration, and the rest of the student body will become part of your new community, and will be available to guide you along this path and to help you overcome any roadblocks along the way. My advice to you is to challenge yourself, be open to new experiences, and to enjoy every minute you spend here-trust me, it flies by. Show your Bullet pride on the field or in the stands, become a published author, or find ways to give back in the community or around the world. Whatever it is you want to be, Gettysburg College can help you be a good one.

Sincerely,
Kyle Bruntz ‘09
