Finding a useful article

Once your search is complete you will see a list of results and several options for each results.

First you should scan the list of article titles to find ones that look like they might be useful. Generally the titles will tell you if the article isn't useful, but you'll need to look more carefully to find out if it is useful. Click on a title to open up the record (just like looking at records in the library catalogue.

Inside the record you can see several pieces of information, most importantly the abstract. An abstract is a summary of the article, and from that you should be able to determine if it is worth your time to read the entire article.

Glancing over the Subject Terms, Geographic Terms, and People lists is another quick way of determining if the article covers what you are looking for. You can also click on an item in the list to pull up all articles listed under that term.

The Source is importaint if you decide that you want the article since you will need that information to find the article, request it through Interlibrary Loan, and properly cite you work.
