My best memories are from the track team and Sigma Chi Fraternity. The bonds I made with members of both those organizations I have maintained after almost 30 years. Whether it was track practices or three years of living with the same three roommates in the fraternity house, all of the highs and lows were shared experiences and most are still as vivid as if they had occurred yesterday. Whenever we get together today, there are many hours of laughter reminiscing those experiences. |

"Gettysburg has remained part of our family. My wife graduated in 1983 and my father-in-law in the 1950's. We had visited the campus often before I returned to teach." Petrie remained in contact with people at the college and one day asked Lefty Biser if he needed an adjunct. For five years, Petrie commuted from Baltimore to teach one course a semester while working at Union Memorial Hospital. When a full time position came along, he took it. "Like the memories I have from my undergraduate years, it is the students that continue to create my best memories at Gettysburg. Whether it is classroom experiences or dealing with events at Sigma Chi as their chapter advisor, the students at Gettysburg are fantastic." | ||||
