Reserves Department
Library Reserves are supplementary hardcopy materials and scanned readings for a course. These items should not be all assigned materials for a course or be a substitute for an anthology. If this is the case, the material should be made available as a coursepacket and placed on reserve.

The library places only supplementary course materials on reserve. Reserve readings are those which complement and add depth to required course readings. If you have a lengthy list of required additional readings, please consider a coursepack.
When a list of required readings replaces a traditional textbook, faculty should arrange for a coursepack to be printed and sold to students. Coursepacks are available through the College bookstore.
Faculty are strongly encouraged to discover whether readings are available online via the library's various subscription databases. If a reading is available in fulltext online, you do not need to place it on reserve or include it in a coursepack. Please consult your Librarian Liaisons for assistance in determining whether individual readings are available online. Pursuing this option saves both faculty time and library time; it also provides students with an opportunity to hone their information retrieval skills.
