Charitable Lead Trust

In a charitable lead trust, you transfer assets to a trust, which pays annual income to Gettysburg College for a limited term. At the end of that term, the remainder passes back to you, to your heirs, or to other beneficiaries you choose. This vehicle provides a way to maintain control over a property while making a significant gift, and also presents attractive estate and gift tax savings. The payments can be either fixed or variable, depending on the type of trust established. A few of the benefits: Potentially significant gift and estate tax savings for assets transferred to family members Opportunity to create a significant fund while maintaining ultimate control of the assets.
