Academic Advising

Welcome to the Office of Academic Advising!

Academic Advising offers support in many areas of academic life. The deans work in conjunction with students' faculty advisors to help students make educational plans and solve academic problems. Among other areas of responsibility, the office: 

    • Supports all aspects of the faculty advising program
    • Mentors students through the application process for external fellowships and scholarships
    • Supports Health Professions, Pre-law, and Pre-Business Advising
    • Oversees the Peer Learning Associates program
    • Provides administrative support for the Honor Commission
    • Supports the Academic Standing Committee
    • Provides support services for students with disabilities
    • Oversees academic progress and deficiency reports
    • Oversees the Incomplete Course process
    • Manages the grade appeal policy
    • Processes withdrawals, leaves of absence, and readmissions and reinstatements
    • Prepares Deans' Lists and Course Commendations

Advising Help for First Year Students

 Visit the Departmental Advice for Prospective Majors link on the menu on the left for advice from faculty about which courses first year students should select if they are considering majors in any department. This list also includes advice about special programs, such as Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, Civil War Era Studies, the Dual-Degree Engineering Program, Education, Globalization Studies, International Affiars, Management, and Pre-Medical studies.
