REGISTRAR
Gettysburg College invites applications for the position of Registrar of the College. The successful candidate will be a creative and energetic professional who is dedicated to the ideals of an education in the liberal arts and can sustain current programs and initiate new ones. The Registrar reports directly to the Provost of the College and provides leadership and supervision to a knowledgeable staff. In addition, the Registrar maintains and ensures the quality and integrity of student academic records, oversees the College's web-based registration system, acts as the College's FERPA compliance officer, generates and edits the bulletin of classes, and supports the institution's academic mission by serving on appropriate curriculum and academic committees and working with other administrative academic and student-affairs agents in the College.
In addition to excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the successful applicant should possess the following minimum qualifications: a Bachelors degree (Masters degree preferred); five years in higher education administration and at least two years of administrative responsibility for registration and maintenance of student academic records in a higher education institution; experience evaluating off-campus study and assigning appropriate credit; experience with one or more computer-based information systems (PeopleSoft/Oracle); and an adequate knowledge of and experience with FERPA. Desirable skills or experience include the following: demonstrated ability as a leader in matters of student academic information and in originating and implementing or enhancing programs; dedication to the professional development of oneself (demonstrated by membership in AACRAO) and one's staff; commitment to increasing diversity among students, faculty, and staff; ability to balance institutional policies with the individual needs of students; and ease with adapting to new curricular, student, and institutional needs.
