Break Housing

Gettysburg College closes certain residence halls for Thanksgiving, winter, and spring break periods. They include the following:

Apple Hall  Paul Hall
Hanson Hall Quarry Suites
Huber Hall Rice Hall
Musselman Hall       Stevens Hall
Patrick Hall Stine Hall

These closings allow for considerable cost savings, not to mention environmental savings, for the College community. If you are a student who needs housing during these periods (international student, student teacher, athlete), you may want to consider housing in other buildings. During breaks, students living in the buildings mentioned above are moved to rooms in another part of campus. By choosing rooms in buildings other than those listed above, you are more likely to be able to stay in your own room during break.

Procedures for applying for Break Housing:
If you need to remain on campus during ANY portion of break, you MUST complete and submit the online break housing request form.  The dates in which you are able to do this for each break will be announced approximately one month prior to the beginning of each break.  It is your responsibility to make alternative housing arrangements if you live in one of the buildings listed above.  Please be specific about what day(s) you need to stay in College housing.  The online request form may be found by logging into CNAV, choosing "MyHousing" on the first drop-down menu, and then clicking on "Break or Early Arrival" link.

PLEASE NOTE:  Gettysburg College and its staff are committed to providing on campus housing to student groups required to stay on campus either because of requirements of the program (e.g. NCAA Athletics), or the inherent needs of the program (e.g. Orientation).

IF YOU ARE A MEMBER OF ANY OF THESE ORGANIZATIONS YOU SHOULD NOT SUBMIT AN INDIVIDUAL REQUEST FOR BREAK HOUSING AS THE DEPARTMENT HAS ALREADY DONE THIS ON YOUR BEHALF.
